Actos Class Action Lawsuit

File an Actos Lawsuit

Actos Class Action Lawsuit The diabetes drug industry has long faced scrutiny for their seemingly abundant and significant side effects. Recently, studies have emerged which seem to point to a strong link between diabetes drug Actos (manufactured by Takeda Pharmaceuticals) and bladder cancer. These reports, coming from numerous scientific and governmental organizations, offer strong evidence which suggest Actos may cause bladder cancer.

Actos’ major competitor, Avandia has recently undergone much scrutiny for its high risk of heart problems. This shift in perception has greatly benefited Actos, as many people have begun to look at Actos as the ‘safer’ of the two drugs. This, however, may not be the case. Recent reports declare that Actos may carry a significant risk of bladder cancer. Also, reports claim that Actos is potentially just as damaging to the heart as Avandia, which was the major selling point in choosing Actos over Avandia.

Reports link Actos to increased risk of heart failure and other significant cardiac complications. If you or a loved one has developed bladder cancer, heart failure, or another serious health condition, you may be entitled to compensation from the makers of Actos. You may be able to file an Actos cancer lawsuit if you have developed bladder cancer as a result of taking Actos.

The LA times released an article claiming that emerging research suggests that there are very similar heart risks among both Actos and Avandia. Both Actos and Avandia are part of the same class of drugs (thizolidinediones). Thizolidinediones lower body tissue insulin resistance and alter levels of cholesterol; they are considered among the strongest drugs for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes.

After a 2007 study showed Avandia’s increased risk of heart attacks, cardiovascular disease, and stroke, researchers decided to follow up this study with another one to determine if Actos demonstrates the same risks. The results of the study showed that Actos is just as potentially dangerous to the heart as Avandia, possibly slightly more dangerous.

Many patients suffering from bladder cancer as a result from Actos have been filing Actos cancer lawsuits in order to receive financial compensation from the manufacturers for their hardships. If you or a loved one is suffering from bladder cancer that you believe was caused by the use of diabetes drug Actos, you may be able to file an Actos lawsuit.
